Resident Spotlight: Judith Ann Lammert Capello
Friends would describe Judith Ann Lammert Capello as friendly, helpful and kind. She has lived in our rehabilitation and health care center for more than seven years.
She chose our health care center because of its location in DeKalb, Illinois. It was closer to her family in South Elgin, Illinois.
Judith says her favorite part of her life here is the people. Cultivating friendships is a key component of our care philosophy. The building design is ideal for social engagement. Common areas feel open and inviting and are well-appointed with comfy couches and relaxing nooks. They are perfect spots to get to know neighbors or converse with visiting friends and family.
Hobbies and Interests
Judith also appreciates the activities and programs within our community. “I like the activities here, and everyone is so kind and helpful. The activity department keeps us busy and makes our time here enjoyable,” she said. Judith also complimented the staff for their responsiveness.
Her hobbies include swimming, sewing and quilting.
Autonomy and Choice
Our senior living community balances the independence residents want and the care they need while respecting their individuality. We assist with the tasks of daily living and provide customized skilled nursing services like Judith uses. Deciding what to eat, what activities to participate in and how to live each day is always the residents’ choice.
Judith’s Proudest Accomplishment
Judith was born and raised in Muscoda, Wisconsin. She had three sisters. She said when her father sold the farm, her family moved to Genoa, Illinois. She worked on a four-line answering service. She married her husband, Robert, in 1970 and they raised four children. She lived in a senior living community in South Elgin, Illinois when she got ill, but her family convinced her to move closer to them in DeKalb.
When asked what her proudest accomplishment has been, she said, “I am a Christian and I love God.”
